CAFE AT THE VISTA! BLACK DEVIL DOLL! HAJI! GEEKSCAPE!
Two days before the big show, and already I have some great new friends to give big heaping thanks to. Saturday’s Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! screening is going to be a blast, all the more so thanks to these fine people:
Cafe at the Vista
Big thanks to Shelli and the fine folks at Cafe at the Vista, located right next door to the Vista Theater. They will be giving a free 12 oz cup of coffee with purchase to anyone who brings in their ticket stub, AND!, to anyone who comes by Friday morning through Sunday evening and has the balls to yell out the following nugget of screenplay brilliance from the movie: “Just do your job, squirrel! Fill it up!” Who else can you say gives you free shit when you call them a squirrel and make such demands??

Black Devil Doll
Ahhh, Black Devil Doll… Just wait til you people see this trailer. It’s sick, folks, sick and glorious. An X-rated movie (and an X-rated promo clip - you’ve been warned…) about a black doll who lords over his stable of women with a firm pimp puppet hand, and exacts revenge on those who’ve wronged him with a full arsenal of weaponry. I am so very pleased that Shawn and Jonathan of Black Devil Doll will be sponsoring the evening by playing their trailer prior to the screening, handing out some freebies, and providing the audience with an exclusive clip!

Haji
Haji! How you’ve made my whole fucking year! This whole thing started as a crazy idea - see if I can start my own cult cinema series in a DIY guerrilla fashion, while working with local filmmakers/musicians/artists in the L.A. area to cross-promote and make a fun evening of it. The thought of inviting one of the starlets of this classic cinema epic hadn’t even crossed my mind before it was suggested to me (thanks Janice of RM Films International!), and with just a few reservations and requests (your Orange Gatorade shall be waiting for you, miss…), Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!’s very own Rosie will be in attendance Saturday night, selling her glossy autographed 8×10’s and taking photos with her fans.

Geekscape
Special thanks to Jonathan at Geekscape for having me on his show and discussing all things Mondo Celluloid on his latest podcast! You can watch the full hour stream-of-consciousness session here - sit back and enjoy as we banter about all things Faster Pussycat to Iron Man to 1987’s The Gate, and join in as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of V! Watch as I lose my microphone FOUR TIMES!! There is something to be said for Adderall, friends, and next time I will be sure to remember to take mine.

Jaime Sol Black
“Hey Mondo Celluloid - whose kick-ass tunes were playing before the movie started?,” you may ask. The answer - Jaime Sol Black, who have been gracious enough to donate their PA System for the proceedings. How very cool is that!? How could I not reciprocate by blasting their awesome blend of punk, rockabilly, and ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll before the movie? WHAT KIND OF ASSHOLE WOULD I BE TO NOT DO AT LEAST THIS MUCH!? An especially rancid kind of asshole, that’s what. An ungrateful, dastardly breed of asshole. So click on the link above and check out their myspace page, and if you like what you hear - and I certainly do - then check them out at any of their various upcoming L.A. performances, which I will paste below!

My Mondo Celluloid Friends!
If not for the fact that so many of you have the same twisted, warped taste for cinema oddness as I do (to run into so many of you who love Bad Boy Bubby as much as I do has been surreal and wonderful), this site would not have grown and Saturday’s screening would not happen. Thanks for months and months of crazed film suggestions! Thanks for all the feedback! Thanks to Connor for helping me design the Mondo Celluloid logo! Thanks to Mondo Sister for her part in the shaping of my warped mind! Thanks to Officer, Brooks, and the very disturbed Kazumi Jan2A for being so fucking cool!!
And finally, thanks to Grace Zabriskie, one of the awesomest women I’ve ever had the good fortune to run into.
Go get free coffee, people! Go check out Jaime Sol Black! See you on Saturday!
XO
