XANADU ROLLS INTO LONG BEACH!
First off, thanks once again to Conner Che for his fantastic flyer design. You outdid yourself with Xanadu, sir - who could resist after getting their hands on this baby??

And what a wild crowd we wrangled in, clapping and singing along to their favorite songs, heckling poor Michael “Aw, what the hell - guys like me shouldn’t dream anyway…” Beck’s bad acting and worse attire, even vociferously taunting inconsiderate muse Kira for teasing heartbroken Danny McGuire. Rest assured, after seeing what the Art’s audience did with Xanadu, a screening of Showgirls isn’t far off…
As if partying it up to Xanadu wasn’t enough, the Skate-Out hosted by Estro Jen and the girls from Via Derby was insanely fun!! There were at least thirty people out there, skating along the strand as the waves crashed, racing down the hill at Junipero (admittedly, I and a few others took the stairs…), ultimately lubricating our tired and achy muscles at The Pike. Thanks Jenn for being such a great co-emcee…

…for adding to the atmosphere with your whimsical street store…

…and for the fantastic cake!!

Remember - if you came out to Xanadu, take your ticket stub to Via Roller Skates at 2218 4th Street in Long Beach for 10% off skates and accessories!!!
See you all at A Clockwork Orange on the 31st!!

The crowd was an ABSOLUTE BLAST!! I’m just glad that someone out there agreed with me that Kyra was a horrid tease to poor Danny!!!!! And I’ve learned that watching a beloved film at 37, with a slight buzz, is ENTIRELY different than watching it at 11 (and 12, 13, 15-19, etc) without said buzz and without an audience to rival that of Crow et al. of Mystery Science Theater! Yay!!!
